Presidents Cup Near Miss for Internationals

It was a rough morning for anyone who got up early to watch the end of the Presidents Cup. Despite amazing performances by Louis Oosthuizen (made eagle on the last to halve, unbeaten for the week) and Branden Grace (became only the 6th person in the history of PC to win all his matches) the Internationals lost by 1 point. Anirban Lahiri is going to have nightmares for a while as he could have ensured the tie by making this 3ft putt. Sang-Moon Bae will also spend the next 2yrs of his forced South Korean military conscription regretting his duffed chipped on the last… There was plenty of drama, and credit needs to go to Nick Price for getting the format changed this year to one that allows the teams to be more competitive. Check out the video below for all the highs and lows.

Mid-Amateur Interprovincial Starts in East London

This week the men over 35 will be competing for the title at East London Golf Club. One has to think that the coastal teams like Western Province and Kwa-Zulu Natal (in the A-Section), then Eastern Province and Southern Cape (in the B-Section) stand a great chance to walk away with the silverware considering the course and weather conditions. Matthew Fitzpatrick turned pro last year but the 21-year-old English golfer seems like hybrid built from Justin Rose’s ball-striking skill and Luke Donald’s short game prowess. The former US Amateur Champion and No1 Amateur in the World won the British Masters for his maiden European Tour title. He eclipsed Justin Rose to become the youngest winner of the event and joined other notable champions winners like Westwood, Rose, Montgomerie, Faldo and Ballesteros. Other eventful happenings from the tournament… Ian Poulter pulled off one of the more impressive shanks we’ve seen by a pro!

Tiger Woods call Davis Love to volunteer as Ryder Cup assistant

TIGER-WOODS-AND-DAVIS-LOVE-WITH-RYDER-CUP

Well, we didn’t see this coming… Tiger Woods apparently called Davis Love during the Presidents Cup and volunteered his services as an Assistant Captain for the 2016 Ryder Cup. While he would have to do something special to make the team on points or as a Captain’s pick it’s hard to imagine that we’ll see Tiger talking into an ear microphone and driving a golf cart more than we’ll see him holding a lob wedge. In case you forgot just how good Tiger was with a lob wedge…

Every week we measure the clubs of golfer whose loft and lie angles are completely wrong and inconsistent. Half a degree one way or the other can send your ball in the complete wrong direction, caused inconsistent ground interaction and loss of distance. This is one of the simplest things to test and correct. Take our accuracy assessment by clicking on the link below, we’ll take a look at how to fix your misses and get you hitting it closer to the hole.
